What to expect
Family and portrait sessions with us are quiet. There is no "say cheese." We don't choreograph poses or count to three. What we do is spend ninety unhurried minutes with you and the people you love, watching for the small moments — the grandmother's hand on the youngest child's head, the shared joke nobody else hears, the way someone naturally tilts towards the people they care about.
Most sessions take place either in our Tiong Bahru studio (clean grey backdrop, available natural side-light, plenty of room for movement) or in your own home (which is almost always more interesting). For families with children, we strongly recommend the home option — children behave more like themselves in their own rooms, and the photographs end up being about your life, not about a backdrop.
"We don't direct so much as wait. The best photographs find their own moment."
Before every session we send a short wardrobe note (soft tones, layers if outdoors, nothing with prominent logos) and a brief planning call so you know what to expect on the day. There is no script, no shot list, and no expectation that you'll perform. Show up, let us be a small presence in the background, and you'll have photographs you actually want on your walls.
A typical session timeline
We arrive 15 minutes early to scout the light. The first 20–30 minutes are usually quiet — kids exploring, parents settling, us photographing details (a window, a vase, the kitchen counter). The middle 30 minutes is where the strongest portraits emerge — once everyone has stopped performing. The last 20 minutes are often the loosest, and almost always our favourites. The whole thing is over before anyone has had a chance to get tired.

Portrait & family questions
Our children won't sit still.
That's fine — we don't ask them to. Our family sessions are built around movement, not stillness. We're patient, and we have a small bag of distractions for when patience runs out (a snow globe, two pop-up books, one wind-up chick).
Can we book the session at our own home?
Yes, and we'd recommend it for families with young children. Your home has texture, story, and your own light — three things a studio backdrop can never replace. We arrive with minimal gear and dress for the setting.
Do you offer wardrobe consultation?
Yes — a short call before the session goes over palette suggestions (soft, layered, no prominent logos), what to avoid (logos, polka dots that strobe on camera, all-matching outfits), and how to coordinate without looking matched.
Can we bring our pet?
Absolutely. Some of our favourite family photographs include the family dog or cat. Please mention it when booking so we can plan accordingly.
What does the "Annual Family" package include?
Two 90-minute sessions per year (one summer, one year-end), 100+ delivered images per session, four 8×10" archival prints across the year, and a small album at the end. It's our most popular service for families who want a continuous record without thinking about scheduling.
